Ben 10 Characters - They Are Not As Mindless As They May First Appear Initially
Don't panic - this is not a manual to all the Ben 10 characters. I've been subjected to Ben Tennyson and his motley gang for years now, however there are some I have learnt to appreciate and may be even admire a little.
Ben 10 may be written for kids, however there are some adults around who had a great time thinking up the aliens.
Here are some of my favorite Ben 10 characters.
Upchuck
The whole idea of upchuck is nasty and disgusting, yet some how he still handles to be funky little guy. Upchuck is a Gourmand. It is a play on the French word Gourmet, a person who enjoys food. He originates from the planet Peptos. Peptos is the Greek word meaning digested. This lovely little alien is useful as he can eat his way through just about anything, there may be nothing gourmet about his pallet. His body will then extend to easily fit in all the food, turning him into something not looking too dissimilar to a strolling belly. His weapon is his ability to regurgitate and blast his attackers with explosive balls of stomach acid.
Big Chill
Big Chill is a rather delicate looking alien, but it is partly because of the very strange way he works. Big Chill is a Necrofriggian, a combination of the words for death and cold. He is from the plant Kylmyys which is the Finnish word for coldness. Big Chill can fly and uses his wings to wrap around him, making it appear like a cloak to keep out the heat. The reason to like Big Chill is nothing basically to do with its alien powers, but because Big Chill produced the cutest of babies. An excellent episode during which my son was horrified to discover that perhaps this cool alien was a girlie!
Ditto
Ditto is a Splixson, a play of the word split. Ditto reminds me of household life. He is not significantly strong, or significantly powerful. When Ben becomes Ditto he can separate himself and then the clones can all act separately, almost regardless of Bens wishes. This is the bit I like, they all run off and do their own thing, however they all share similar pain. So if one of them is daft or careless they all suffer! It is like when one child manages to spoil the whole families day out! I am sure that this Ben 10 character was thought up by a parent.
So next time the Ben 10 characters are blasting the peace and calm of your family, and you are praying for the batteries of their toy Omnitrix to expire, keep in mind that they are not all mindless.
